A Complete & Comprehensive Guide to Buying/ Inspecting A BMW E34 5 Series | Covers Every E34 Issue!
A couple years ago I compiled a quick BMW E34 Buyer's guide showing things to look for when buying a 1989-1995 Generation BMW 5 series. Also known as the E34, one of BMW's Best cars ever. Well at the time I didn't have great camera equipment and I missed A LOT of important details, however the video has done thousands of views indicating that people really want to know about the issues E34s might have before purchasing one, or inspecting one they just purchased.
So given my knowledge has grown and my equipment has improved I have made a new edition, this time as you can tell by the hour long video, its an extensive one. Showing EVERY SINGLE worry point on a BMW E34 possible, from body work identifiers to engine problems to worn suspension components. This video shows you how to inspect a E34 from top to bottom and then some.
We have exterior problems, rust problems, interior problems, engine problems, underside suspension/chassis problems, and also how it should drive!
I hope this video helps people who either want to buy an E34 or people who own one and just need some guidance on possible issues their car is having.

I've been keeping a highly controversial secret for the past 6 months. Forget what those people say, this might just be one of the best bang for your buck cars available and its allowing me to live out my Ferrari dr...

Some tips for the drivers side mount(the harder one) Turn your drivers side wheel outwards and take it off. Use a 17mm on a swivel extension with about 1-2 feet of extension length on it. Slide the extensions and the swivel down towards the engine mount, close to it but not on it. Then get underneath the car and look behind the drivers side wheel well. You should be able to see the socket sitting next to the engine mount and then you can guide it onto the nut with your fingers. Much easier than pulling the alternator assuming you have small enough hands.

The E36 M3 GT is actually an S50B30, so it is the early european 3.0l engine. In europe early M3s had a 3.0l engine making ~280hp, and later got the 3.2l S50B32 with over 300hp. USA got the S50B30US, the 3.0l engine with ~240hp and later on the S52B32 3.2l with the same 240hp

I love when people spend a shit ton of money on stock engines just to see what it's really capable of with good support and a proper setup. I pushed 450~whp on my stock B20 before the head gasket started letting go and breaking up after 6000rpm on full pulls. Exactly. I had a 2006 e46 m3 that was almost brand new condition with an SMG. After a month or so, realised just leaving it 3-5 mode and when changing gears using upgraded paddles (so, easy to change gears when steering) and drove it exactly like a manual just without using the clutch. Or just shifting with the shifter flick up or down (usually, when driving in the twisty roads at speed) Was a perfect car and predictable with all the electronic stability control etc turned off. Just decent suspension, upgraded breaks, and fat quality tyres. With maintenance done more often than necessary and lived in the garage. Miss it so much and when driving on unsealed twisty roads in hills of melbourne, had that thing able to slide and pull with precision without any interference from traction control. Plus, it really was a manual just without the clutch. When you take the foot off the brake, it doesnt roll forward. Just like a manual but doesnt stall. sigh I sold it as snapped my achilles playing bball and needed the coin after lost job and covid hit. Sold it for fkn $20k australian.. what a fool

I had a 2006 with 140,000km and sold it for $18k Australian in 2019. It was in mint condition.. but I felt generous as I had money at the time.... then snapped my achilles tendon, had surgery lost my job then COVID hit Melbourne. Since then life sucks hah fk me. I miss that car. I used to just turn it on in the garage at night to hear the engine to make me feel relaxed then go to bed. Such a weapon. As it's Australian/Euro it is better plus had all maintenance history. I had replaced all wearing parts, upgraded brakes and a few others. It had never seen rain... I also had sold my 1993 Nissan GTR V-Spec II for $20k Aud as I was in Canada studying and needed the money. I had imported it was a 5 star immaculate rating. I now drive a mazda 3 2007 with 200k. This is pretty nice 👍 We did the opposite and yanked the S54 out of e46 M3 and slapped a N55 into it 🫡

Those roads around there are so nice. That’s the perfect car for the mountains.
